82 Feb 19 Reply Thanks Holly, I think you are right about the background. It was very much a candid and after a long walk. With more thought and time, I might had reduced further the DOF. Again thanks. Feb 28th

82 Feb 19 Comment Thanks for this interesting image. Please give us more information about it. Feb 12th
82 Feb 19 Comment Great candid that certainly conveys a sinister image. The upper part of his right hand seems to have a very 'hard' edge against the black background - maybe a slight blurring would soften the very sharp transition in tone. Feb 12th
82 Feb 19 Comment Very beautiful image and it looks a most picturesque region of the world. Had you thought of a slight vignette just to draw the eye into the image's centre? Thanks for sharing it with us all. Feb 12th
82 Feb 19 Comment Love the simple balance of colour and arrangement. I agree with Sam - the blue area appears at first as a shadow. A great image nevetheless. Feb 12th
82 Feb 19 Comment Ah yes - thanks for the insight. I will give the image a whirl through Photoshop and see what I can come up with. Again many thanks. Feb 12th

83 Feb 19 Comment Excellent picture using monochrome to advantage. I would perhaps prefer the 'horizon' either a little lower so that the middle sized mushroom's cap was entirely against a dark background; but it is very much a matter of taste. Feb 16th
83 Feb 19 Comment I have a very old photography book by a German professional photographer called Benzer who alway carried a piece of black velvet to put behind flowers for just the effect we are talking about.

Well done to Peter for a striking image and actually I quit like having some texture to the background.

83 Feb 19 Comment This is truly a great image. It is expressive of the emotions we all felt 50 years ago when human exploration of the Moon was just starting (where have the years gone!).

In essence, your face is the key to the image's impact and getting the right level of contrast is therefore important. I suggest that your eyes and surrounding area could be brighter.
However, well done on a very thought-provoking photo.

83 Feb 19 Comment Many thanks for this fine image which 'tells a story' not least of relaxation on a summer day. In particular, I liked the use of leading lines although the distant tree was possibly the walkers destination.
My only suggestion may not work! However, I wondered if you darkened the foreground in the right hand corner it would further lead the eye into the picture.
Your observation that a monochrome image is something quite different from a colour picture converted is well made using your images.
Finally, I believe you have captured the sky perfectly.

83 Feb 19 Comment Well done on a striking image that, to me, expresses the complexity of modern living. The starkness of the architecture to some degree makes the human figure the smaller. May I suggest, you try a vignette limited only to the lower edge of the picture; the main aim would be to have a graduated darkening of the walkway nearest the viewer. This would then lead the eye more easily towards the vanishing point. Feb 14th
83 Feb 19 Comment Thanks for this powerful image. Firstly, I favour leaving the lighthouse in the centre of the image as it 'points' to the cloud street in the sky. The sky, by the way, I believe is excellent and expresses sunrise well. However, I would agree with Peter that the pier (dock) could be lighter and the removal of the post strengthens the image.
