67 Jun 20 Reply I like both your versions Todd. However, Color version looks better to me in this cropping. Over and above, I understand Larry's version of extending the ground a bit more might take care of rule of third & a bit of breathing space at the bottom of the frame.
I am still curious to find out where did you see a man with blue shirt behind the mother... But having seen the scene personally, I can confidently say there was no human element noticed on ground while shooting :)

67 Jun 20 Reply Oh lovely, you liked the color version Jun 30th
67 Jun 20 Reply Appreciate your input Jason. Will try to explore that in my next trip Jun 30th
67 Jun 20 Reply Thanks a lot Richard. It was indeed a great time to watch these gentle giants at close proximity Jun 30th
67 Jun 20 Reply Thanks for taking time to visit and share your feedback Beverly. It is interesting how different people look at the same thing differently. You input well taken with a combination of Larry's cropping / extending the ground a bit more. Jun 30th
67 Jun 20 Reply Thanks Mark. Jun 30th
67 Jun 20 Reply Thank you so much for the inputs Larry. This version is indeed more appealing. I wondered why it did not stand much in the salons but now I got the answer. Will try entering this version and test my luck.
I forgot to mention, that I used Nik s/w and Silver Pro Effect within. That has added some grainy effect too.
Thanks again!

67 Jun 20 Comment Oh amazing place to be I guess. Brilliant tones through and through. I see this is a great contender for BnW image. I couldn't resist myself playing with it a bit. Attached my version to see your reactions...
IMO, should you choose to keep it in color format, adding a bit of saturated blue sky would be superb.

67 Jun 20 Comment Beautiful environmental image Larry. I loved the contrasty lighting (more of an X mark). No glare in the water+ pure white water falls gives a fresh feel just by looking at the scene. I can imagine myself at the spot enjoying the fresh breeze.
I see the touch of pink could go up a little more either by bringing down the brightness on the flowers or increasing the saturation a tad. But again "less is more" sometimes and you as the creator of master pieces know better to present it. Super image again. Thanks for sharing.

67 Jun 20 Comment Good application of the creative thought Jason. Amazing golden light used to its full potential to create an impact on the viewer. I felt it is an abstract on the first look and understood your concept after reading through.
Overall it is a very nice image coming out of an ordinary scene owing to great lighting.

67 Jun 20 Comment Wow! That is one colorful sunrise and valley view. I believe you stopped at the right spot to get this diagonal lines intersecting each other. Looks very nice.
I liked the version from Mark much more.

67 Jun 20 Comment Brilliant image Michael! Great use of diagonal composition. I loved the backlit leaf bringing out the fluorescent color feel complimenting the red flower.
I see there is a beautiful shape formation in the pic as shown in my attached image.
The only thing I would prefer is to crop it a little more to remove the second leaf and keep only one leaf, flower and the butterfly. IMO that would enhance the frame a little more.

67 Jun 20 Comment Good capture of this not-so-common action. I liked the way you said do not settle for the routine shots. However, we should be ready to let go of the routine shot and also end up not getting any special action too... Part of the risky and lucky affair ðŸ˜Å
W.r.t the image, I think it is well cropped and presented.
To me, the pine spikes on the left is slightly distracting while I understand it gives a natural feel to the image. Can anything be done to de-focus that? Like blurring or adding vignette or anything that experts can suggest? Just a thought.
