6 Jul 19 Comment Super shot from cellphone and editing to extract so much intricate details Tom. I feel it looks flat on face. A slight tilt would have probably given a different look may be? Just like the way Dick has shown in his image. Jul 22nd
6 Jul 19 Comment Oh amazing Yellows and subtle Oranges. Simply superb!
You capture the flowers and their details so well Dick. Brilliante! I liked the composition too

6 Jul 19 Comment Beautiful patterned subject Janet. Nice colors complimenting each other too. I see this image looks way better when flipped around like Dick & Tom. Jul 22nd
6 Jul 19 Comment 9 shots stacking hand-held? You have a very stable hands to stay in-line... Wow!
I see Salvador's image looks great overall, however, just curious to know if the flowers were pure white or bluish white as shown by Salvador.

6 Jul 19 Comment Good eye for detail to showcase a broccoli. You have brought out nice details I see. I do see a little bit of blur on the stalk and the highlights could be brought down a bit more.
Overall good thinking to shoot a usual subject and show details Salvador.

6 Jul 19 Reply Sure Sandra. Point well taken. I was brave just because this lady was around 7-8mm (10 max). I would think twice to go closer to a tarantula though. Jul 22nd
6 Jul 19 Reply :) I have had instances where some of the jumpers are so curious that they jump on my lens making me look around for them.
Thanks for your comment Tom.

6 Jul 19 Reply Thank you Dick. This kind of explains the logic of mirroring the image by Janet. I do agree with cropping the dead space. Jul 22nd
6 Jul 19 Reply Thanks for stopping by Larry. I was probably 10-12" from the subject. Cropped around 20-30%. Jul 22nd
6 Jul 19 Reply Thanks Salvador. Somehow, this spider in this setup has a special place among other images in my repository. Unfortunately, there was no victim around as I noticed. But, yes, agree with you. Even the victims appreciate the beauty of this creature and gets into the trap most of the times I guess... Jul 22nd
6 Jul 19 Reply Thanks Janet. I agree with you and others on the cropping part. However, didn't quite get the logic of mirroring the image. I felt my image complements the usual orientation of Left to Right seeing of things subconsciously. Jul 22nd

67 Jul 19 Reply Thanks a lot Richard. Yes, the lens is heavier than my previous telephoto Tammy 150-600mm G1. But give and take you see... hope 200-500mm builds my forearm muscles :) Jul 22nd
67 Jul 19 Reply Appreciate your feedback Todd. Spot on reg "Catch Light & Head Turn". I really like the different perspectives each of us have while looking at the same image. Makes me wonder sometimes... Jul 22nd
67 Jul 19 Reply Thanks Cheryl. Yeah, a little head turn would have been good. I think it was watching my friend on the other side if I remember correctly. Jul 22nd
67 Jul 19 Reply Thanks Michael. This is taken around a dry lake bund area in tropical region (Just off Bangalore, India). Sure, I will check on the brightness part. I too liked the colors on the bird. Especially, when I see the raw image zoomed in to see more details Jul 22nd
67 Jul 19 Reply Haha... I like your wish to get the combination of two frames... I can probably achieve that in Photoshop to pamper the desire :)
I agree with the loopy vine. May be, I should have cloned that part. Did not notice it that much honestly due to pure admiration of the bird and the grey'ish bg.

67 Jul 19 Comment Hi Cheryl, a lovely capture of such beautiful bird. Overall, it comes across as a perfect staged picture although I understand you had not personally influenced the scene except for freezing at the right moment :)
I agree to downplay the background which is already done by Larry I see.
The bird's head turn towards you has definitely added. Was it cautious of you/group being around?

67 Jul 19 Reply Hi Larry, your processing to highlight the colors (giving the real feel of the glossiness) is brilliant! I would like to understand more of reducing the color noise... appreciate a little detailed note or any reference links to go through please. Jul 22nd
67 Jul 19 Comment Magnificent terraced waterfalls image Larry. I always admire your patience to explain the whole "behind the scenes" so the viewer like me really experiences the scene virtually.
Just perfect colors and details to give that wet feeling by looking at the picture.
I wonder how the image would have looked if I chose a vertical frame and show a little bit of the sky as well. But I do understand the sky looked just white/grey in this climatic condition. Better if the blues are seen though...

67 Jul 19 Comment A wonderful landscape from somebody other than God of landscape from this group. Needless to mention the name right... :)
These are excellent frames that you have shared Wayne. I liked the greens you have shown on the foreground. However, blown out sky is something, I felt you could have a played with.
The second image from your comments is way better than the first one for sure. Although you could underexpose the water in the foreground a little to avoid distraction.
Anyway, coming back to your actual post for July, the dramatic sky/clouds as shown by Larry combined with your edited foreground will be terrific if I picture it right...

67 Jul 19 Comment Lovely capture of these beasts Todd. I totally agree the head turn has given a drama to the image. Boy! size of its paw is as big as my head :)
I understand its a handheld image and the challenges thereof. A little bit of the cub's full body inclusion would have given a slightly better frame in my opinion. May be a little wider zoom also could have helped I guess (another 2-5mm difference).
All said and done, capturing these beasts in the wild is no match to any other excitement. And that too in a distance that you have got them, especially the aggressive mother with cubs around. Bravo!!!

67 Jul 19 Reply Oh boy! Thanks for the appreciation Larry. That's encouraging! I liked your idea of Velcro straps... should probably explore that next time. Jul 22nd
67 Jul 19 Comment Beautiful capture of the Orchid and I am simply enjoying the vibrant colors Michael.
The color rendition from Pentax K1 has amazed me many times when I see my cousin using that for his brilliant spider images. He usually pairs it up with DCR250 to go 1-1 close up.
My eyes are little distracted due to the bright background, which I feel can by blurred and darkened a bit further.
Jul 22nd
67 Jul 19 Comment It is a lovely image Richard. I have seen tiny wolf spider but not this big. On the first look, it looked to me like a Tarantula :)
I liked your image as-is (wider shot), which gives a great habitat feel to the viewer's eyes. Agree with Michael about very minimal adjustments to the image. Sometimes not using the zoom also gives us a fantastic perspective like this. :)
Overall, it is a very compelling image!
