Oh thank you Joan! I wasn't sure about the background. I will change the title. I forgot about the odd number rule. |

We will be up by Fairview/Morgantown area but plan on driving around, will see where Thurmond is. I love Cass, WV, it was my first introduction to WV back in the 70s. The train still runs up the mountain and you can see all three of the major mountain chains - Blue Ridge/Shenandoah and Great Smokies? Just amazing.

So try your original picture and leave the middle part and bee untouched. I like how the bee stands out in this new one. My eye goes right to the bee, but the flow stuff in the middle just looks funny, not something a bee would land on. It was your original b/w background and flowy flower that caught my eye, then lost it with the middle of the flower and the bee. The different colored background takes away from the beautiful flower color. I really like how the bee stands out though. Maybe just the bee untouched on the original, it might work. Such a neat picture. |

I know that sometimes I take a shot and don't see the edges until I pull it up. Some stuff you can remove, some not. I'm heading to West Virginia to visit my daughter and family over Christmas, I plan to get lots of photos of similar pictures. There is a story here and your picture tells it.

These are Snowy Egrets, not Cranes. There was a mix of Egrets and Cranes at this location. I just called everyone a crane as it was easier at the time. I'm looking for suggestions on what I could do to get the photo ready to submit for competition. Thank you for any comments you might like to share. I appreciate learning to see through other's eyes. |

I too love the image of the flower itself, but for me, the background is too distracting. I want to focus on the fineness of the flower, but the background keeps bumping in. If the background were hazier (less defined) then I could just focus on the flower itself. I'm learning what I like and don't like in a photo, so please forgive me while I still learn to express that in words. It is interesting to see what others say and then take their comments into consideration and look at the photograph through their eyes. Rick, you are correct, it does have a dreamy look! |

I figured out how to crop it and send it back to you. It is just a powerful image all by itself. Hope this works to put the picture in the response :-) WooHoo, it worked. I wish there was more ocean for them to be going into, but we have what we have. Maybe cloning the buoys out would give them that extra bit of space and open it up. Maybe someone else will comment. |

Nice capture! If it were mine, I would crop out the stuff in front of the boat and leave all your boat with people and water off to the left of the boat. While my eyes want to stay on the boat and the people, it keeps jumping off to the buoys out front of the boat on the horizon. Great vivid colors, bet you had lots of fun with this! Very powerful story. |

So, I hope I say this correctly. This is an interesting photo and the colors caught my eye first. I have to admit to liking the original flower middle and bee better. I do like the b/w swirl of the background on the submitted picture. I even like the fuzzed petals on the second image. For me, the bee gets lost in all the fuzz and swirl. I have no clue about the programs you used (Topaz Studio), could you do the submitted picture and leave the middle and bee as the original picture or would it not work. It is very striking. |

I love this picture for the story it tells. The affect of time on the wood, the rotting away of the home, the family … and still it stands, waiting. What bothers me are the two thick branches in the upper left hand corner that are intruding on the scene. Where was this taken? |
