81 Jun 21 Comment Here is what I was able to create from coping the image from this website and then taking it to topaz. This is one variation I thought was successful. Jun 8th
81 Jun 21 Comment Noël, choice of black and white definitely works here. And the water looks great. I would crop up from the bottom and a fair amount from the right, as it seems left and top heavy. I would take it just above the bottom wave, and just to the left of the wave on the right. I would clone out the contrail too, as it distracts me. Could be my screen but I would check levels and see if more blacks and whites could be brought out, looking at the histogram. Jun 8th
81 Jun 21 Comment Cheryl, I love the way you brought out the flower pedals and color. I think you can even add more texture and bring it out even more. If it were my shot I would crop up from the bottom as my eye goes back and forth from the flower to the base of the vase that shows in the picture. By cropping up my eye then stays with the flower, supported by the vase. I would crop off the part of the vase that is much less curved, and up a little from there. I would also bring down the highlights on the shinny reflection on the vase itself. The greenery is in a nice position of support, and adds to the shot. Jun 8th
81 Jun 21 Reply Here it is totally a matter of taste. It is a compelling image but a little confusing, and that may be good, and the way you want it. It may look best this way. I am currently wanting to have my abstracts hint at the subject to decrease confusion and increase "oh wow" but that is where I am currently in my photography. Some images are best obscure. My comment here is that these are trees and I would want to know that. Adding a little black may get the result I am suggesting you explore. Who knows, it might, or it might ruin the effect, so it is just a matter of trying it and seeing what you the maker likes best. Jun 8th
81 Jun 21 Reply I would be happy to. I will need the jpeg. You can send it to my email at rgusdorf@live.com. Jun 8th
81 Jun 21 Comment Brent, I see what you are going for, and the colors are beautiful. I find the most interesting part of the scene is the upper left where the flower tops are tack sharp, but the rest I find to be a distraction and too busy. I would crop all the rest out, see how it holds up. Would love to see a bug or bee there too! Sometime getting in real tight post-processing I find those bugs. Jun 8th
81 Jun 21 Comment Hema, an interesting shot. Having the explanation makes a world of difference. How honoring. But looking at it without context, the meaning does not come out to me, and the orange color and tight crop does not appeal to me personally. Some of the bright spots are distracting. Maybe a different post-processing technique would appeal to me, and I would look at Topaz impressionism, and see if a painterly more abstract rendering would be more to my liking, but that is my personal taste. 81 Jun 21 Comment Janet,
I like what you did post-processing. You really brought out the colors. A few spots of light - upper right, and small one on the upper left that could be taken out. Not sure the bottom greenery adds much, and I would want to see it perhaps as an even tighter crop, just seeing the flower, and then more flower details would show too.

81 Jun 21 Comment Angela, I do this all the time, and love the abstract nature of it. Colors are so important, and you nailed it. Framing is wonderful. For me, I wonder if the trees were slightly more defined, so I knew what they were, if I would like that better. It took me a bit to figure out what was here. Yea, I would say a 10% or so more defined might be more to my liking. But that is a picky comment, as this is lovely. Jun 8th
81 Jun 21 Reply As always Angela, thank you for your input. Thank you for the cropping suggestion, as that is something I was wondering. Jun 8th
