Well that is really cool. initially i thought it was computer modified, i.e. Photoshop. but it is real, and that again is so creative. very nice. |

As i shoot raw, i need make basic rendering of the photo. i also want to keep it real, unless a compelling reason to make a change. My personal goal is to make a picture, take a picture from a snapshot in time, to a piece of art. |

Brent, glad i could help. hey, it might also look real good to crop just above the little bend in the skirt, then you have more of the center bar. just see what you like. i do a lot of post in lightroom, somethimes some very specific aspects in photoshop, and sometimes topaz. you can get a very good pic here, and if you have another around the same time you might have one where she is looking up a little bit, as she is looking at something but we have no clue as to what. i.e. a little more of her face. i dont worry about "eye bags" as i usually dont do well and it looks better leaving that alone for me. maybe you can somehow post a new version in the upper corner, and I believe Angela can do that. would love to see what you do. |

Brent, a pretty shot of a pretty little girl. you ask good questions here. i find the picture is really in the upper part and would consider cropping just above her blue skirt, and cropping a little off the right then, really allowing is to see her happy expression. and it would then have the handle bars creating a foundation, and leave us to fill in the rest, as we know what is happening. background is out of focus, good, and i would straighten the horizon as it leans to the right. i think the sharpness is what is should be, and colors are good, might consider a little highlight to bring down the brightness of her hair. then you might like it flipped, then she would be looking into the viewers way of reading a picture here in the usa. generally we look left to right, like a book. other cultures, the opposite. |

Sandy, beautiful scene, and I like your capture. colors are great. i thought about cropping out some at the bottom, but i think you did right. something still to think about. i like the way the gravel road brings one into the scene, and how it winds around taking one into the inner beauty. I see why you took the pic! per your question, i looked some more and would crop a fair amount off the bottom, as you still have the road winding into the trees, and the road is not your story, as you point out. Might want to crop up and get right above those rocks on the slight hill and below the little stick (or just above it), and that also takes you into the middle part of the road where there is grass to the edge of the pic, and not stopping the eye when viewing it. |

Hema, that is the fanciest, and probably the most expensive lens filter i have ever seen. sharp, and i like the way it trails off out of focus, color is great, beautiful reflections. You can try to use guides to keep the bracelet horizontal while making the lens stand perfectly vertical. I like the background, and you might consider taking some off the right, but i am glad it is not perfectly centered too. Dont know if deliberate, but the lens controls can be seen, and that to me adds to the story and context. a little separation from its edge and the jewelry edge i think would be good too. very creative. |

Janet, how fun, and nicely done up close. The purple flowers, and brown on the bee are very appealing. the big take away is there are part in focus, out of focus and then in focus. i would find it to be better if more was in focus, i.e. greater depth of field, and also getting the bee in front somehow, with its eyes showing up even more, as they are sharp and that is good, and then letting the flowers go soft. takes much time, and we always dont have that. Like it. |

Cheryl, wow!!!! Wow.....!!! tremendous photograph. I love the crop, the pose, the colors, the background.....etc. and what i love the most is the great color rendering of the little kid's face, hair and smile........ The pic comes down to the facial skin rendering to me, as it is either a distraction or a support, and you nailed it here. love the hair too. the only thing i could suggest is perhaps a 10% reduction in lighting on the forehead and left side hair, but i tell you that is all and that could take away from your pic. Fantastic!!!! |

Angela, that is a pic way out of the box, literally, out of the box of colored pencils, out of the rectangular picture cropping, out of the pencil pie in two places. Very dimensional and intriguing. Love the colors, as you always do well with that. Only thing i noticed is the pencil ball outside the pie, and the circle from which it came, are round and appealing. the other balls are not quite full circles. Not sure if deliberate or not, but you might want to try full circles there too. Or was that a deliberate choice, and if so, I would like to know, or if Photoshop could make them all round. Just a thought on this very creative and lively shot! |

Thanks Angela. Starbursts at 16mm, and i put my iso as low as possible, let the shutter speed do its thing. it was a photo shoot, and i cloned out a shadowy person in one of the isles. a great place to shoot. |
