Could be my computer monitor. What I mean is the image looks flat and lacks detail. On big crops it reaches a point where you can't recover that. Not saying it's a bad composition.

Thanks so much. I tried to remove the branches in LR, but it wouldn't work. It was the last processing action I tried, so that's most likely the problem. I certainly will re-process before I print. |

I don't know about PSA but this certainly would get you a blue ribbon at the Bradley County Arkansas Fair. Maybe even best-of-show! Seriously, I think this is a wonderful image - a good story - not many people realize that some bats are also pollinators. Love the dark background-no detail needed IMO. Good and sharp - I can see a bat tooth! Great pose on the bat and detail on the Saguaro cactus flower, one of the iconic plants of the Southwest. I just find this very very interesting. |

For me the reflection makes the photo special. I see you have some room to open up the crop a bit, so I would add more room above the bird's head, both in real and reflection. And maybe even going to a square format. |

Yes I am amazed by the new cameras and processing software. They allow technically challenged folks, like me, to wander around immersed in Nature and take a sort of snapshot approach to photography. You know - see the image, grab what you can get and take it home for processing. Of course, I end up with a lot of over-processed junk (which I really love, btw) but a few decent shots. An amateur's nirvana. |
