The upper wing, but you can throw in those feathers too. I'm thinking just a little shadow lightening with a brush in Lightroom. |

You have been posting some very interesting landscape shots. I love this one. I never knew Ansel Adams, but agree with him that "Contrast is King" in shots like this. So Ansel and I suggest more contrast. I like Cindy's treatment. |

Great action shot. The birds are in good focus. I like having plenty of space in front of the birds. As for the background, the line at the top of the water's edge (white area) is perfectly horizontal, but the bottom edge of the water is not. Not a big deal, but I would try to further de-emphasize the background. Not sure how to do that. But everything's horizontal on your alternate shot, the birds are in good focus and nice pose. This one would be a good candidate for another picture, with a tight crop on the birds showing very little background. Thanks. Very interesting. |

Nice portrait of this beautiful and unique bird. As everyone else said, the colors are captured wonderfully. And the background, uh, not complex in the least - the gray complements and brings out the color of the bird IMO. One teeny-tiny thing that probably would make no significant difference, but since I brought it up - there is a shadow at the base of the bird's right wing. I wonder about lightening it up a bit. |

Amazing. Three layers of birds - on the ground, just taken off, and in flight. All in focus. I suppose it's these layers that gives the image its wonderful 3-D effect. |
