Thanks for the plant ID's. I have a great interest in wildflowers.

Thanks to all for the comments. I agree this is not the world's greatest landscape image. I think I'll keep the sun but crop a little more off the top and convert to black and white. Then it would be the world's second greatest landscape, or at least make the top ten. |

Yep, square crop and including the entire animal makes this image even more special. Thanks. |

Wow what a beautiful bird and nice capture. I like that you have included the tree and some foliage in the image. I think there is room for you to crop some off the top and bottom and still retain the tree and some of the foliage. That would make the bird even more prominent and the image would be better balanced IMO. Great shot of a very interesting raptor. |

Nice BIF shot with your new camera! Nice and sharp, good wing position, good light. I like the vegetation in the image. It's just part of the environment and doesn't look bad. Except for that small clump at the bottom of the frame. I'd remove that. |

Yes it's about the eye. Filling the frame is good here, and diagonally positioned as Cindy noted. Raindrops with bubbles also add interest. Cindy said it all. Except one thing. I would have been on BOTH knees praying that big fellow didn't come after me. You be careful out there. Like the rest of us you're no spring chicken - maybe can't run like you once could. And I hear those gators can run pretty fast. |

Bright sunny day but the angle of light was just right. I like the sharpness of the bird and dragonfly, showing that pink bird's tongue - that really adds to the photo for me. For these bright shiny images I usually lower the contrast and highlights a bit - just my preference. I'm really interested in your use of the DX mode, when and why you use it rather than using full frame and more cropping. Thanks for another great and interesting image. |

Susan, glad to see you have your priorities in the correct order - postpone surgery to get that photo out! I think this is a wonderful action shot. The birds are perfectly placed in the image, IMO, and nice and sharp. I like those pink flowers in the background and am wondering what they are. Please provide both common and scientific names (joking). I noticed the slight haziness and actually liked that - makes the image look a little artsy. Me-like-artsy! Wishing you a fast and uneventful recovery. |

I appreciate your comments. Agree about black and white and thinking this is the way to go with this image. The green artifact is a lens reflection. I removed a larger one and didn't even that small one in the corner. |

Yes they are really that big. They don't call them "great" for nuthin'. Thanks for the comments. I couldn't decide about including the sun, so I compromised and included part of it. |
