A very interesting image. Look at all those lines! Taking my eyes up to that sky. I like the high contrast look and the narrow crop. This is the Badlands for sure. Good choice of black and white and processing. |

I agree with everyone's comments that the image should be brighter. And also warmer. |

I love this wickedly sharp, light and well balanced lens. I can't see any loss using a 1.4x teleconverter except for the loss of one stop. This lens with the Z8 is a wonderful combo. |

Hi Bud. Good action shot. I would widen the crop a bit, leaving even more room in front of the bird. Its really moving! You might try decreasing the highlights and increasing clarity on the bird's breast to bring out more detail. |

As a confirmed crop-o-holic I stand of awe of what you have accomplished here. The image is sharp and noise free in spite of the very extreme crop. I might have cropped it less, including more of the environment, and rotated in image so the bird looks more upright. But then I would need to clone out the tree trunk in the background. In perfessunal photographer circles we call that the Fats Domino Effect. |

Thanks for the excellent description of how you got this shot. That info is so helpful. What do you do while waiting for six hours? That would be a huge challenge for me! A sharp colorful action-packed image. Can't be better as far as I can see. |

Great! This looks like something straight out of a National Geographic magazine. Love the composition with the line curving and leading out of the image. I like your revised image with more blue. If I could make the sky a little more blue, I would do that. Otherwise straight black-and-white with more contrast to better separate the sky from snow. |

Hi Susan, very nice image. How wonderful it must have been to witness all these beautiful birds in their natural habitat. Great comments from Larry. But you're stuck with trying to sharpen this image and give it less of a washed-out appearance. I don't know what software you are using, but I would try some additional sharpening using something like the new Topaz applications. Also adjusting the saturation to bring out the blue in the water. Just for fun I tried a different crop. I know the flamingos are ordinary but they could be used more to make the image more beautiful, IMO, and add context. Attached. |
