Thanks David, Badlands NP is a landscape photographer's dream. Great images everywhere you look. Can't capture them all, but I sure tried! I also shot the scene with a 24-70mm lens at various focal lengths which seems to work better. |

Thanks Rich, I like the way you brightened up the badlands to provide more emphasis. Thank you so much for this. |

Holy cow! I've got a shot of that tree, but from a different angle. It's a Utah Juniper (Juniperus osteosperma). You've got a nice photo with an artsy look. I like that. I know even less about night shooting than other types of photography, so I have no suggestions except to frame it and put it on your wall. FYI, my shot attached. |

Good shot of an eagle in flight. Nice sharp eye. Just a good classic eagle-in-flight shot. |

Hey Rich, you captured two of my favorite nature subjects - Buttonbush and Gulf Fritillary butterfly. Love the crop showing not only the butterfly but the buttonbush flowers the way they really look. Wouldn't change a thing. |

Wow, that bear looks as surprised as you. Great story for an unusual bear photo! |

I think you have a fine image. Yes there is some clutter but that's the environment in which the monkey lives. Everyone seems to agree that those bright leaves need to be toned down a bit. I would try using a brush to further lower the highlights on the leaves. Crop a little off the bottom and left side of the image. And maybe even apply a little bit of vignette. |

Hi Susan, I'm always glad to find a wood stork here in south Arkansas. We don't get many and they are welcome to soar overhead along with our plentiful turkey vultures. That blue sky looks nice but I too like the high key approach of a white sky. I would try processing the original image in black and white. The bird and limb are in good sharp focus and would look good in black and white. |

It's the next morning and just like with my wife I now see that you are absolutely correct. Thanks so much for the thoughtful analysis. I was really "taken" by the clouds that morning, feeling as if they wrapped around me. I shot a vertical panorama series that emphasizes them even more. I never considered the effect of the 20mm lens and see how in this image I missed an opportunity to make more of the magnificent badlands landscape. I also used in other images the 24-70 lens @24 which appears to make a little difference in perspective but should have tried a little more magnification I think. |

Just as you say, I left the photographer in the image to provide some scale. I agree a little more foreground would be good to have. There was a railing that I couldn't get rid of in Lightroom, so I cropped it out. And yes, Larry's comment about the perspective provided by the wide angle lens is very revealing. Seems I get something useful from him every month! Thanks.

Yes, I love what you did to the image. I was concerned about brightening it too much, making it look un-natural, but you got it just right. Thanks! |
