I took a shot at removing the crossing branch using Lightroom's new "content aware" mask. Also cropped a little more. I don't use the texture slider much but tried reducing the texture of the background, which appears to reduce the noise a bit. Also slightly darkened the background. As always, thanks for the suggestions. |

Pishing doesn't always pay off for me, although I practice for several hours every day. |

Thanks. Both of the kinglet species are very cool little birds. I went back to LR and took another shot at cropping and improving the background. See below. |

Thanks Cindy, I used Lightroom to darken and detexturize the background. See below. |

Thanks. A blackberry patch is typical habitat for these little birds. Not the cleanest shot but certainly reflects the habitat. |

Here's my best shot at implementing suggestions and using the new "content aware" masking feature in Lightroom. I darkened the background a bit, lowered the "texture" slider in LR. and added a dark vignette. Thanks to all. |

Hi David, I like the crop on this one, making the leaf off center. I agree with the others that it's not obvious that the leaf is in ice. But that doesn't matter IMO. It's still a nice visual. Thanks. |

Hi Bud, bird and blurred background are both really good. On my screen the bird in your processed image looks more hazy than the original. In Lightroom I would try subject masking the bird and dehaze a bit, and use the "iris enhance" brush to brighten up the eye. I like the way you cropped the image. Thanks. |

Hey Rich, what a happy happy shot! All good, except I might crop a little off the top. Thanks. |

Oh Cindy Cindy Cindy, what a great action shot. Everything is great IMO, except maybe a little more detail on the bird feathers. Turn down the highlights and up the clarity a little? Thanks. |

Thanks for another great photo, and inspiration to get out there and shoot. I'm not tuned in to the photo competition scene, so I wonder why a judge would care if an image is cropped or not. I guess some of them don't consider photography to be art. |
