I played around with the image a little in Lightroom. Main changes I tried was reducing the highlights and contrast, and lightening up the shadows a little more. Cropped a little to show those crab eyes a little more. I see why you wanted to show more of the stump for scale. Warmed up the image a little. Not saying this is better or worse - just messin' around. |

Just a quick edit to show what I'm talking about. |

Very appealing lines and shapes. I'm thinking black and white would be a good way to go on this one. |

It's really impressive how you improvised to get this shot. Very interesting critter! Got those eyes in perfect focus. My first impression while viewing the image is that there is too much contrast and shadows, but on second look I guess it's good. As usual I like your stories of how you got the image.

What a great image. The lighting is so perfect, giving the feathers a rich texture with plenty of detail. Good crop, nice reflections and water drops. I wouldn't change anything! |

No doubt about it, IMO, the crop without the branches is best. I would even crop a little more off the top to bring th owl a little higher up in the frame. Very nice image! |
