I did not notice the light area in the corner. Think I'll try a very slight dark vignette, as Cindy suggested below. Thanks! |

Hi Cindy, thanks for the comment and welcome to the group. I don't know why I chose a light vignette. I often use a little dark vignette on my nature images to help emphasize the subject. On this one I did not consider that the light corners would be distracting. And it makes the light area in the upper right corner more distracting (Larry's comment). So I agree that dark is better. Thanks. |

David I think this is a wonderful image. Black and white is the perfect choice for this one. I like the way you captured the flowing lines of the water over the ledge, contrasting with the smoothness of the water below. Great Job! |

Wow, you did some really nice processing on this one. Good feather detail and the bird itself is awesome. I too would recommend cropping more off the top and leaving more room in front of the bird. I think I see a halo around the bird which is probably from processing. The sky just doesn't look right to me, maybe because I know it's not the original. I would try using the original sky, but darken it a little. It's possible the sky is not completely blown out and you can get a little cloud detail, if there were any clouds. |

Instead of leading lines you have leading footprints. The really add a lot to the image, along with the colorful beak, eyes and shadow of the bird. I very much agree with Larry's suggestion for cropping. I'm wondering about the background. The horizon is not level, so adjusting that might be something to try. Also lightening the black on the bird and darkening the background just a small amount might give more separation. Really good shot and sounds like a great adventure. A lifetime ago I sailed Hobies in that area. |

Larry, I think this is a very cool shot. A subject bird framed by a spiral of other birds. And they are swallowtail kites. They are very rare here in South Arkansas and we get excited when we see one. Your persistence really paid off. Great shot! |

It's a nice shot and the dark clouds add some mystery. But I can't help but wonder what's behind the clouds. From what is shown in the image it's a pretty magnificent sunset. I think cropping about half the image, leaving a very wide panorama, would help a great deal. It would put more emphasis on the sunset behind the dark clouds and the sunset would then become the subject, while still leaving the its true magnificence to the viewer's imagination. |
