What a thrill to encounter that old veteran of many fights, I'll bet. To me what makes the image is the white teeth and the yellow splotches that outline the jaw and eye. Also, the patterns of rain drops/waves on the water. Technically outstanding, as we expect from "the master". |

I really like the repeated curved horns throughout the image. The spray and splatter of muddy water, all those heads jammed together conveys the frenzy of the herd making the dangerous crossing. Well done! |

I think this is an outstanding shot. Very sharp focus on the subject, good pose and the bear being in the water makes it even better. I agree about the back ground being a little too bright. Maybe darken a bit and up the saturation (green). Nice shot!!! |

Hi Rich, a really nice shot. So well balanced in composition and color. Interesting to me how the gray sand background complements the birds' various shades of gray, and separation of subject from background is maintained. Several shades of gray - a good book title. |

Good composition to catch the eagle and gull together. Nice! To me the image looks too dark overall and there's too much sky. Might try cropping out some of the sky and lightening up a bit. I'm with you and Larry on the need for an 800mm, although that new Z lens is only 5.5 pounds and surprisingly low priced for this type of lens. If Nikon would come out with a 500 or 600 with the same specs, I would really be tempted. |

Yes I see that now. I'll try backing off the yellow saturation a bit. Thanks! |

Thanks so much for your perspective on this. I did not apply the Lightroom image profile correction to any of the images used. I wonder if that would reduce the bowl effect. I'll try that and post if it helps any. I still want to create a beautiful image and keep that "top of the world" feeling, even if what I actually remember is standing on the edge of a parking lot in the cold drizzle at the end of a long tiring day. |
