Hi Richard, this is a really nice shot. All good. Clear and focused, interesting pose, dappled cloud bokeh, and look at all those triangles! Not to mention the subject is one of our most graceful and beautiful birds. Here in Arkansas, they are rare and it's extra special to see them. |

I like Tom's crop on this one, and would have left a little less space in front of the eagle. I would try lightening up the shadows a bit to show more feather detail. |

I'll agree with what the others have said. Action, clarity, great subject and triangles - oh so many triangles.

Thank you for another great tutorial. One every month and I learn a lot. I'm going to use my license as a rank amateur and say this image is great as-is. It conveys a wonderfully dreamy feeling. As for cropping, I might try cropping a little more sky off the top, say to the top of the middle cloud. And there is a little room to crop some off the right side. That would move the sun a little more off center. |

This is a great image for the season. I can see taking Tom's version and making a really nice holiday card. I agree that a wider view of the trees might provide more balance to the image. Otherwise looks all good to me! |

Thanks to all for the comments. I like all the suggestions. Fact is, it's hard to go too far wrong on this wonderful Yukon site. This image is over six years old and I would certainly change the aperture (among other things) if I were shooting it now. What I can do is take your ideas and improve the image. Thanks again. |

Welcome to the group. You have captured a wonderfully intimate shot of a creature that is often portrayed as menacing. I like everything about this image - the crop is perfect, the pose of the mother looking at her sleeping cubs and foreground/background are nice with no distractions. To my eye the image has a little too much of a yellow cast. In Luminar 4 I used the "Remove Color Cast" slider to slightly adjust. Thanks for posting a very interesting and emotion-provoking image. |
