Thanks for all the comments. Much appreciated. Takeaway: Have a subject! If you think this one is imperfect, just wait until next month. |

Man, that is a great pose as the bird descends to the nest. Yes, the image is a little soft and the background is too bright. I don't know how you processed it, but the background could be darkened a bit and the bird could be sharpened. In Lightroom I would use the adjustment brush for darkening, or you could lower the exposure and lighten the bird. Then use the sharpening mask in LR Details to sharpen the bird a bit. Before Larry gets on to me, this is not a substitute for getting it right in the camera! |

This is a wonderful shot. Composition is well balanced. It shows action, with the cloud of dust rising from the buffalo as they go down to the watering hole. Not only the buffalo, but the two large trees, so wonderfully shaped, at the top of the hill are in the perfect location. This is Africa! |

This is a very good painterly image, with a wonderful dreamy feeling. The pose of the bear turning around to look at you is just right. Framed by the flowers and foliage, it's just right. Good job. |

The placement of the stones makes me feel as if I'm part of the image, ready to step on the next one. To me, the subject is the ambiance of a mountain stream. And don't tell me ambiance can't be a subject. ;) I can feel the cool breeze off the rushing stream and that cold mountain water. Patches of bright green foliage help set off the waterfall. All good. I like it. |

This image is pure elegance. The arching limb and finely draped feathers make the image special. Black and white format is perfect. Black and white format, removing the distracting foliage is perfect. Nice job! |

Haven't heard from Madhusudhan yet, and looking forward to his take on the image. But thanks for the input so far. In case you are wondering, the subject is supposed to be the colorful sky contrasted with the water. I enhanced the saturation of the sky to bring out the subject, but there's a lot of water there and it's not very interesting. The birds are not supposed to be the subject, just included to add interest. I still think this would make a pretty nice print to decorate a wall. Thanks again for the comments. |

I like this. It captures the essence of what I was trying to do with the image. To me, the subject is the sky, contrasted with the water. Trouble is, there is a lot of water. The birds add interest but might take away from the main sky/water subject. I think the dark beach at the bottom and light sky at the top frames the image nicely. The blurring effects helps. Thank you for posting this.
