Thanks to all for the helpful comments. This month's take-away: Watch the background; eliminate distracting elements. |

Yes, just a personal preference. I like the compatibility of the soft colors. It adds to the intimacy of a touching scene. On the other hand, the black and white brings out the the unique form of the elephants. I like Beverly Caine's crop because it gives space in front of the elephants - nothing is lost by cropping out the limbs at the top IMO. So I like both color and B&W versions and can imagine them side-by-side on your wall to capture the best of both worlds! |

Wonderful patterns and just enough sky showing. The color version is good, but IMO Madhu's black and white version is great! |

A charming image. I like Larry's adjustments, but to me the color version is far better. I like the softness of the original image - the soft browns and greens, and how the light falls on the elephants. |

I really like this shot! Mississippi kite is one of my favorite birds. So graceful in flight, light grey colors and red eyes. You captured an excellent pose - reminds me to be more patient. Well done! |

I like the use of bright foliage in diagonal corners of the image. Instead of being distracting, it sets off the waterfall nicely. I know you have done the best possible with the highlights on the flowers and foliage of the laurel. I would have used the adjustment brush in LR to bring down the highlights and increase saturation on the flowers, which I'm sure did in PS. As usual, a great image. |

Wow, I like the motion blur and the symmetry of the image. Beautiful and very artsy for a nature image. This would make a great print! |

You picked a good place to shoot a sunrise. I like the mound in the foreground. I cam imagine standing on it enjoying the view. The suggested crops are good, IMO, reducing the sky and moving the horizon more off center. Also, moving the sun off center is good. |

You could have knocked me over with a feather. A few days ago I got notice that this image won a photo contest at The Journal of Wildlife Photography. It's now my favorite online photography publication. It's the first time I had entered a contest, and actually had forgotten all about it. Since it's a photo contest, I will receive a picture of a RRS tripod - or maybe Jared Lloyd, publisher, will send me a real one. |
