Hi Todd, this image certainly conveys a clear impression of the brutally cold winters in Yellowstone. Your choice of black and white is very appropriate. The image is good, but I would try sharpening and adding contrast. The Dehaze slider in Lightroom might work. The "blue" treatment made the snow whiter, which is good, but IMO it needs more sharpness and contrast. Thanks.

That blade of grass, I would like to get rid of it. I tried the spot removal tool in LR but results were not acceptable. Guess I will have to use Photoshop. I know this sounds sacrilegious to many of the photographers on this site, but I'd rather "take a beating" than use it. I admire anyone who has mastered PS, but to me it's the most complex and non-intuitive software program I've ever encountered (it's hard to believe LR and PS came from the same company). Can you point me in the right direction for getting rid of the grass in PS? Might save me hours of re-learning PS. |

Here's an image showing the eyes and darkening the background. I had trouble getting rid of the grass blades in Lightroom. |

Excellent shot of a scene few of us get to see (no wild elephants in Arkansas). I like Larry's crop very much. Makes an intimate scene even more so. |

Great. I especially like the way you brought out the blue on the wing and around the eye. I'm still trying to get a well focused image of a bird in flight, so I really admire this piece of work. |

I stepped near the snake and saw his gaping mouth. So I stepped back. He partially closed his mouth. I stepped forward and he opened his mouth even wider again. So I stepped a tiny bit closer and he opened super wide - and that's when I took this shot. It's actually an eye-level shot because his/her head is tilted back. I took several shots before it slithered back to the creek. They are basically the same pose but with the mouth not open as wide. One of these shows the eyes pretty well. But I really wanted to feature that cotton mouth with the detail. I will process the other one to see how it looks with the eyes. Thanks. |

Excellent image in every way. I agree that sometimes you have to throw the rules out the window! I had you pegged as a rebel anyway ;) |

Wonderful image but I am bothered by the bird's head being cocked back a little. I tried this crop. |
