Excellent macro shot! The planthopper prey really makes this shot. Good color (not over-colored) and composition. Nice work. You noted that flash was used, what were your f stop and shutter?

Beautiful photo. Great texture, color and blur of the water. I like the horizontal format because it conveys more depth to the photo, including the sidewalls and interesting plants (I assume) growing along the layers of rock. Looks to me as if moving the viewpoint to the left, zooming in to make the bridge (?) and waterfall the main subject and using vertical format would also make a good photo.
Thank you for the detail on setup. I don't do a lot of landscape work and it's very helpful. |

To me the image reminds me of this little restaurant beside the Pan American Highway in the highlands south of San Jose. The cleaning lady was taking a break beside the window and looking at the local paper. Just as important to me, the view out the window shows the foothills of the mountains with low clouds in the valley. That is all "to me" and not much is conveyed to someone else. Cropping and converting to black and white does add mystery I think and makes the image as much of a keeper as it can be. Maybe I'll clean it up and hang it on the wall of my office to remind me of that trip down the Pan American Highway.
As for cropping, I admit to being a "cropoholic". I crop nearly every image, often to more than 30%. Something I need to watch. |

Those ferns are beautiful! I visit the Bryant area often and will certainly look up this park. It's a good photo in my opinion. As for me, being a cropoholic, I would crop out the trees at the top to clarify that the subject is "Look at those beautiful colorful ferns!". Also, it's purely subjective but the photo is over-saturated on the yellows and oranges. That shows up particularly in the tree trunks - they should not have an orange/yellow cast IMO. A nice photo - thanks for sharing! |
