Thanks, Cindy, for your comments. I agree with you about the need for a place in the bird's environment. Thanks |

I appreciate your views, Bud. I have never tried expanding an image too often. I may try it in some circumstances give. I really thought the sky gave the image the seance of place much more than just a solid one-color background. Thanks For the comment. |

Thanks, Susan for your comments. We agree I am not distracted by the sky either. As you say my objective was to cause the Heron to stand out in the image. |

Thanks, Mickael. I like your rendition and understand everyone's concern with the sky. Check out my reply to Larry about my reason for the editing I selected for the sky as I did. |

Thanks, Lary for the comments. I really try my best to create clean backgrounds that takes nothing away form the subject. Looking for subjects that have some distance between them and the background is a goal. I thought about removing the sky but thought it was an important element to the overall image so selected to brighten it up a bit instead. |

This is kind-a-like the menu at my favorite restaurant. The many choices make it a difficult choice. The competition is a fierce, but I am going to go with Larrys version. The cloud does add interest, but then I lose the impact of the mountains and foreground. I will leave the choice up to you David. They are both good. |

I have one thing to say about this image. I WISH I HAD TAKEN IT!! Heck, I wish I had been there just to see it. This is by far your best posted image yet. I love it. |

Magnificent shot Larry. From my years spent in Fl. I am well aware of the storm's you guys have. I am going to try your technique for capturing lighting flashes. Here in the Hilton Head area, there is not a good location where I can face the open ocean form the back compartment of my SUV so I may have to work with some river scenes. I really like the foreground and what you have done with it. I think I can replicate that using the vast vistas of marshland we have. This shot is what makes us all enjoy the world of nature so much. Thanka. |

I take part in a photo club sale once a month and last month I had someone, for the first time ever ask if I had a picture of an American Crow. I didn't have one so you should have been here, she would have surely bought your image of the Crow. like your final crop with some flying room for the bird. It may be my computer, but I am seeing a little blue cast to the image. If that is the case and it may not be but that is an easy fix in LR. Like your new camera, lens set up, congratulations... |

Great shot Michael. I agree with the extra cropping from the left. The black hole does not bother me. |
