Nice shot with a hard white on white image to photograph. I agree with what the others have suggested. |

Love these Spoonbills. We are seeing more and more hear in the southern end of South Carolina but still not enough for me. Great colors and details but I agree with the others. Places like the swamps we often shoot in can be really hard to get nice clean backgrounds. Removing some of the background and even blurring with clarity and texture it may help. |

Cool looking bird for sure. Love the Red. It really sets off the Honeyeater's appearance. Nice background also. Very sharp with a good eye glint. I may have positioned the bird a little to the right. |

Well, you are correct about the 1/125 Shutter speed. It is not what I would normally use for birds, but these are very slow-moving Ducks early of the morning. The are just floating around doing nothing but looking pretty. I do like you point about the brightness of the stick. That would be an easy fix. |

Thanks Michael. I may gif that try. I was trying to make it all about the Fox and its possible did not include enough of its environment. |

Thanks Susan. I agree the stick has no place sticking into the side of the fox. I was just not Happy with that white house in the background. |

Thanks, Larry, for the comments. May try and work on the halo thing some. We have several Red Fox in the area. Must be a lot of Rabbits. We have a ton of ponds for water control and wooded small areas in the neighborhood that produce a lot of Marsh Rats. I think the eat pretty well and of course there is no hunting. |

Thanks Bud. I see your point about the stick. I did not notice it until you brought it to my attention and now that is the first thing I see when looking at the image. I loke you work on the photo. |

On this image Susan I think I am in agreement with Cindy concerning her crop and the composition. The Pelicans on the bottom were just a little too much. |

Thinking out of the box. I like that. When I first saw this, it reminded me of the look of the texture on the covering on an old football. Of course, it is not that at all. I suppose that is what abstract is all about, it causes you to use your imagination to solve the image. I do like the 3 textured layer differences going from the bottom left to the upper right. Very captivating photo David. |

Very nice image Bud. I too like the background minus the white spot in the upper right corner. Nice and clean with just the right amount of environment. With the square crop it does look a little out of balance. The composition would look better as a portrait. That is just my opinion, which does not mean a lot. I think that you have done a really nice work with this white bird. They are difficult. |

I have a homemade patty pod. An old metal frying pan with a bolt through the bottom so that I can attack at ball head to hold the camera. Mine comes with a nice handle with a hole on the end the to attach a carrying strap. Now for the Sandpiper. Nice sharp image and good composition. I took a look at Bud's version and was not sure about the green thing either. So, I removed it and also the red thing above the tail of the bird. After removing those distractions, I cloned in some of the image to hide most of the blur. Hope you don't mind. The green stub or whatever that was did not bother me much, just a little. I suspect it was one of those floating seedpods from a mangrove plant. Maybe? |

Another beautiful image Cindy. I love this story quality of the image. It is a story that most of us will never get to experience in person. Thanks for sharing. I really like that you left the environment with the Iceberg included in the frame. That adds so much to the story. Can you tell I am all about story telling. You said you increased the clarity overall which did help with the foreground, but I am wondering if you could have selected just the foreground and increased the clarity and the texture if it may have added some more interest. The only other thing I would like to see is just a touch of separation between the 2 Gentoos on the right. I just think those little things can make a real difference. I know I am being a little picky, because it is such a great photo. I wish I had taken it. |

I kind of agree with the other folks. Crop and Crop some more. The subject is the bird and the moth that it is having for lunch, some of the image just does not fit into this story. I am very acquainted with these birds and know that they do love to move a lot so this may have been you only chance at this one. The next one you come up on see if you can get him to pose somewhere without the Oak leaves in front of him.
