46 Nov 23 Comment Thanks, for the nice comments Maria. I change out the perches several times a year. I would be interested in what type of perch would have been a better presentation for the wood woodpecker? Nov 16th
46 Nov 23 Reply Thanks Jack. I need to have a better model. This guy was on the tree beside the perch limb so there I did not need the extra DOF. He did not let me know he would be moving to the limb I had placed for a perch. Having said that, there was no need to have a F2.8 setting and would normally have had something around F9 to f11 for my back yard photography. Nov 16th
46 Nov 23 Comment Beautiful Marilyn. Great creative Insite to highlight the white face 0f the Barn Owl. The High Key approach worked well and then the light vignetting really highlights the Owl face. Really good Marilyn, I like this a lot. Nov 15th
46 Nov 23 Comment This big Gull is a beautiful bird and you have captured him well. I think the crop and position of the bird is spot on. Your closeness to the bird and a wide-angle setting on the lens really shows off the wingspan of the Gull. Nov 15th
46 Nov 23 Comment Exceptional work on this Hummingbird Jack. It is definitely sharp. There is just enough movement in the wings and tail feathers to imply motion. I agree with the other folks about the branch out front being a distraction. Nov 15th
46 Nov 23 Comment Cool Bird Maria. Of course, we do not have the pleasure of seeing these guys here in the US, so this is a special treat for us. Everything looks natural, the compositions is good, and I like that you left room for the bird to fly into. If you read my post on Lisa's image you know my thoughts on having the image flying away from me. Not really a right way of wrong way, just a difference of ideas. Great image, Thanks for letting us see something different. Nov 15th
46 Nov 23 Comment Very Nice shot of Mr. Eagle. I like that you flipped the image. We read left to right so that is the direction in which our eyes view everything. He is flying at us, and we are looking at him. If you had not flipped it, we would be catching up to him and viewing his posterior body parts first. Great image.

67 Nov 23 Reply Thanks, Michael, for your comments. The image is enhanced it that I lightened and dehazed the main tree of the image and darkened other areas that were secondary to the photo to help highlight the subject. I did warm up the image to help highlight the colors. Nov 26th
67 Nov 23 Comment Thanks, Cindy, for your comments. Lakes with lots of trees always seem to have a spooky quality about them. The overcast day added to that feeling on this day. On sunny days you would want to grab a Kayak and head out among the Cypress Trees. I like your composition better than mine.
Gives more room for this little guy and shows its relationship to his older sibling Trees.

67 Nov 23 Comment Well, bud that would be a new bird for me. We have the Yellow Shafted Flickers here in the east. I think you may be the only photographer that has a picture of a Flicker Tongue. That's pretty cool in itself. More dof would have put more of the bird in focus but hey, the tongue is what this shot is all about. Good work. Nov 15th
67 Nov 23 Comment Beautiful Dave. Love falls scenes like this and have been known for abruptly stopping to grab a shot knowing the wrath of my wife is sure to be following when I return to the car a 12-hour latter. Love the stitching work and the use of the stream leading you to the light. I do have a question about the location, Is it close to the Deep Creek Area of Western MD. My daughter used to own a home on the lake, and we went to falls in the area. I remember the name from those days. Nov 15th
67 Nov 23 Comment Larry are you sure you were on the east coast of the US. If you had not said Florida, I would have thought you were in the state of Washington or Oregon. I really am glad you and your camera survived the storm. I love the leading lines created by the rocky out cropping jutting out from the shoreline to the lighting strikes. Story telling with landscapes is challenge for sure. I think you have met the challenge and in Florida of all places. No mountains canyons or high snowy peaks there to work with. Very dramatic scene and the 30 second exposure added the real touch. Nov 15th
67 Nov 23 Comment This is a really strange looking creature. I don't blame you for stopping to take a picture of a bug. You don't see these every day. I can't see anything to change. I think that f16 really helped capture its environment. Very nice Cindy, thanks for posting. Nov 14th
67 Nov 23 Comment Great capture Susan. I looked for one of these guys on my trip to Cost Rica several years ago. I did see a tree where they had been the day before according the guide. Always seems to be my luck. Really nice shot. I like the rain and how the bird seems to be hunkered down trying to stay dry. Nice composition and the bird is sharp. I can't see anything that has to be changed or improved. There is a couple of things you could try to do to draw more attention the Resplendent Quetzals. Mybe tone down the top of the branch that it is setting on. While it is not too distracting if it were just a little muted it may help highlight the bird. Very minor thing. I would say the same thing for the whitish leaf lying on the branch. For me this would be a lifetime capture. Nov 14th
67 Nov 23 Comment Just a wonderful image Michael. I like it just as it is. The flowers above the back of the Bison do not bother me. It would have been a problem if it had been growing out of the Bisons head but above the back for some reason looks very natural to me. Very sharp on the subject, good composition, the colors look very natural, really nice image. I am guessing that the blurred area in the foreground is some tall grasses and unavoidable. They look like they were much closer to you than the yellow flowers. I doubt a different F-stop would have made much of a difference. Nov 14th
67 Nov 23 Reply Thanks Dr. Vaisman for the information and the comments. I never thought the location of the trees would eliminate the fall color changes. If I had thought about it, I would have known because I lived in Florida for several years and still lead photo outings there every year. I don't ever remember seeing the Cypress being anything other than green.
