I thought about the fence when taking the image and hoped that the Elk would move to another location but that never happened. I could have removed the fence like you did and I guess I should have. Some time PSA makes one feel like they are between a rock and a hard spot. Leave the manmade fence and you are disqualified or remove the fence and you are disqualified as well. I know we don't have to follow all the rules for the group but it is always there in my peanut brain anyway.
Thanks |

Thanks Jason for the comments. It looks like the fence is a distraction to a lot of folks. I will remember that for sure the next time I have this opportunity. I like the lighter tones of the grass. Thanks |

Man, David what a nice scene. I agree with you that this is all about the emotion created by the image. The colors are great and the composition is prefect. I can see this hanging in someone's lake or beach house as the feathered art on a large wall. I love it. |

Your right Owls are always special to photograph and this is a nice one for sure. Love the bokeh background and the Owl is nice and sharp. Very fortunate to catch the light on the back of the Owl as he/she flew by. You are correct about the sky and the neighborhood that these guys usually live in. Never much chance of catching them out in the open let alone with a clear blue sky background. Good Job as usual.

I am going to agree with the folks about the ray of light. I would like to see it be the highlight of the image. I do like black and white landscapes and you have done well even though the scene looks very foreboding to me. I Like the composition and the leading lines going to the valley head where the light beam is are very nice. Good work.

I am impressed with the effort you put forth to just get the shot you were after. I am also a bit cold looking at all the Ice and the weather needed to produced it. That is why I live in the south. I think it is a wonderful image. The ice curtain may be large but to me it shows the enormity of the cave and the complexity of what nature has accomplished. You have told the story about this scene with your camera very well. |

Nice landscape Michael. It seems like you are elevated above the stream and that makes the scene look very distant. I would like to have seen something in the foreground that would have given me a better perspective as to where I was in the image. I really like the scene and think it has a lot to offer the viewer. Maybe an f11 or f16 would have given you more depth of field and better definition of the distant trees. Still a keeper.
