Wonderful image David. I am like Larry. I live on the east coast in SC and there are no large rocky shores. Therefore I am not an expert on shooting wave images. I was looking for the surfer under that wave at first. That would have been cool. After looking at the image for some time I too think the left of the image is hard to understand. I assume it is another rock formation but I am not sure. I think I would do as Bud did and crop out the edge of the image. Some day maybe I will venture that far west and take some beautiful images like this.

Lot's going on here Bud. I do agree with Larry about the rocks at the top of the image. They just kind of boxed you in and add nothing to the image. I have this thing about flipping images and you may have notice that I do it often. Usually my objective in doing so has more do with my viewing the subject head on and not having it running, flying, swimming or just leaving the frame. We read a page left to right. That's just a thing I was taught early on and and it has stuck with me. It's still a personal choice. The first thing I noticed about the image is that the pelican appeared to be landing on the head of the Gull. I think I would have removed that Gull and left the other gull to help balance the photo. Just something to think about.

Love the Bokeh and the sharpness if the Willet. I am not sure about removing the shells and leaves on the beach. That would be the photographers choice I suppose. You achieved your adjective with the clean background. I would be satisficed with that accomplishment after the effort put forth crawling on the beach for the shot.

Jason I grew up in the mountains. In a family of hunters so I understand the thrill of the hunt. I even like it more now with my camera. I'll give you kudos for tracking this guy down and capturing an unusual image. Under the circumstances just getting a head on shot like this is great. I don't imagine this little guys stayed around for another photo session., Good work. |

Michael I like everything about this image. The composition, That thorny branch, The Bokeh. This is a great photo of this little finch. I even like that little bit of a curve in the branch it is sitting on. I keep looking for something that would improve the image and can't find it. |

Thanks David for the comments. Check out the redone image at the bottom of Larry's post. I darkened the rock and it indeed makes the bird stand out better. Thanks |

Thanks Bud. I re-edited the image and and tried your guys suggestions looks better. I think the bird is highlighted better by darkening up some of the rocks and removing the blade of grass as best as I could. Check out the redone image at the bottom of Larry's post. |

Thanks Larry for the help and the commitments. I will try and see if I can't correct some of the things mentioned. I hate to say this but I did not notice the blade of grass in front of the bird. I have darkened the surroundings and di my best to remove the grass in front of the Turnstone. I do no have Luminar AI that bud mentioned. Had to use the clone tool and and the spot removal tool in LR. Not an expert at that fot sure.
