Thanks Todd. I like it too. It was a little dark for my taste because I had a ND filter on because of the long exposure. I was shooting this for a competition and that's the reason for the softness of the image. You and Larry both suggest I crop some off the bottom and that works for me. I like your crop and I may have cropped a little from the right side as well to move the stumps a little farther from the center of the image. Thanks Todd. |

Thanks Larry. This beach is very shallow and wide so even a normal wave travels a long way onto the beach. I was impressed with that and wanted to highlight that but I think maybe I highlighted just a tad to much. I also wanted to keep the stump away from the enter of the image. Cropping a little off the bottom does not interfere with that. Most of the softness came from the long 3 or 4 sec shutter speed. I would have used the brush with the clarity tool to soften the image more by moving the slider to the left. It was still pretty dark only 6:43 and the sun had not come up over the horizon yet. So the only other thing I would have done is lighten up the image. |

Wow Bud! I don't think there is much I can add to what has already been said. Tight crop be danged this is an exceptional image of Nature in Action. My SUV is my best blind and tripod I own. Now if I could just talk my wife into the idea that I need that Nikon D850 my life would be full. I just found a whole 9 days of images I thought I had lost of a trip to Costa Rica because of an external hard crash. Apparently I had transferee them to a disc and then to the external drive. I now have several backups. Looking forward to seeing mire of you work.

Hey Larry I really like this one. Cant wait till summer comes to try some of this type of art. This is a mood setter with at twist. I love the juxtaposition of the smooth ocean and the violence of the storms. You would expect to see the seas all riled up with storms that close. I actually like the dark cloud high to the left. It adds drama to the storm. I am not so sure about the bright spot and may try to tone that down some. The beach I think is a necessary element to the image. It balances the image as Michael said and gives me the viewer a place to stand and watch the passing storm. I know that not everyone agrees with my pet peeve about that concerning landscapes images but it allows me to be a part of the image. |

What a beautiful place to be at 8:30 on a morning like this. I think this is a special image. While it can certainly stand as is you can always play around with some of the suggestions from the guys. I took the liberty to play around with it. A little crop, I reduced the brightness of the forest and up the clarity in the trees just a little and opened up the shoreline just a tad. I tried reducing the haze in the sky but didn't feel it worked well. I would expect the distant Mountain to have some misty look to it. Anyway Todd I think it is a wonderful image. |

Hello Michael. Your concept is a good one, but there are some things that distract me from the subject "cypress knees". I do agree with some of the other comments that the image could be cropped a little tighter. I don't know if this was possible but I would like to have seen most of the downed tree branches remove from the forest floor. I know they are a natural thing in the forest but this time they are drawing a lot of attention away from the cypress knees. The water and the sky are very nice and I kind of like the warmness of the foreground. If this is close to where you live I would be going back there for sure.
