I am always open to constructive criticism so I thought I would play with the image for this month using everyone's thought about the bright areas of the photo. I had muted and darkened the background some as well. I will say that I highlighted that area of the limb and the front of the Goldfinch to give reference to the light source of the image. I must also say that by darkening the background and the limb it really made the Goldfinch stand out. Do I like it better. I am not sure. I don't think it hurt the image so it must boil down to the Artist choice. Thanks Guys. For the input. |

Wonderful Image Madu. I would have taken it in any light and worried about the processing latter. You can always improve an image with today's technology. Everything about the image is spot on except the darkness of the subject. Use the brush to lighten up the animal and darken the surrounding and hang it on the wall/ OK, I would hang it on the wall without that because this is a once in a lifetime shot. Be Proud of this one my friend. |

Really nice image of what I think may be one of the Willets. L Kudos for the belly craw. What I really like is the Little bubbly looking wave action. The light on the bird is really done well so early morning was the time to be there for sure. I think the DOF is fine. You have captured the most important thing is the image, the Bird and the breaking little wave. The bird butt may not be in full focus but that is fine. Do you know how many in focus bird butts I have captured over the years and never did win a ribbon with any of them. I think it is a really nice capture and I will say again I love the water action.

Anytime you can stop the action of a flying honey bee it's a good day. He seems to be nice a sharp as it should be a 1/8000 of a sec. shutter speed. I agree With everyone else, a little less ISO and and increase in aperture may have helped but that is just a guess on my part. I wasn't there so I don't know the conditions you were shooting with. Hey in my book even attempting to shoot macro with a moving target deserves a vote.

Hi Todd. I think that all nature photographers dream about taking a wall hanging image of the prefect waterfall. I understand your desire to branch out on the post processing side but I am going to agree with Michael and Larry. I will start with. I don't understand the landscape crop. I agree with pulling out sections of the waterfall to add some creativity to the image. In your original image there are a bunch of those options. I really like the original image. As a side note having Art Wolfe as a mentor is top of the mountain in my book. I have a bunch of his books I read all the time. |

Michael these guys are always a joy to see. I think they make great subjects to photograph and you have done well with it. It always looks like they have a half smile on and the texture of the green body is intriguing. I do like that you captured the Anole showing the same curvature as the flower stem it is perched on. Even though the Green and Purple are not what you could call color companions the shape kind of blends them just the same. Wonderful detail on the anole and you caught the eye glint too. If there is anything I would change and I don't think you could do it easley it would be the flower on the left of the frame. But as you said sometimes the environment as a whole that make everything work. |
