Thanks Michael. Not to often you get an eye level shot but it is nice when it happens. I used to crawl around on my belly on the beach and a few other places but not so much anymore. I would have to hire a strong man to help me up and I don't sell enough work to pay for that. But it sure is nice when they hop on a perch as the same level as my lens.

Thanks for the comments. Yes you are correct you don't see these guys often. Got to take advantage at every opportunity. |

OK, I was just wondering. You just save me a climb down that bank if I ever visit that spot. |

Thanks you Todd. I wonder if I will ever get to the point that I will do everything correctly when shooting. Probably not at my age. I should have learned that a long time ago. Having said that I don't ever want to lose the excitement of seeing or finding that special moment shot or not. That's the reason for this journey. |

Thanks Larry for the comments. My normal routine is much like your when I finish a shoot. Unfortunately I some time just forget and I don't think I had even taken my camera out of the car yet from my last shoot when this happened. Some of the blurriness comes from me trying to remove the green metal fencing placed in this flower bed. I just did not do a good job of that. I almost think it would have been better just to leave it in there. |

Special image Madu. Good action and drama. Wonderful color. Really cool that you had a guide that knew what he was doing. I don't know that I can add much that the other folks have said. I think it is a wonderful image. If there were anything I would have done a little different it would be the position of the Lions to the right so that they would not have been in the center of the frame. That's not a big deal but something I would at least took a look at. Again a stunning action shot.Good work. |

Great action shot Larry. I live with these guys and know what they can do if the so desire. They are powerful animals. So me in a kayak may not ever happen. I have watched these guys grab their supper and the reflexes they display are much faster that I could ever accomplish. You must be congratulated for being in the right place at the right time. I say congratulated because it is not just happenstance that some folks get these kind of images. I wonder how many times you have watched the gator glide on by the bird or the bird has flown and left you staring at the spot where everything was supposed to happen but didn't. The thing that stands out to me is that you anticipated the action befor it happened. That kind of knowledge comes from really knowing your subjects be it a gator, bird or anything else we are trying to put in front of the camera. Great work as usual. |

I am like Larry I would need a place to stand and run on dry land. Your perspective is wonderfully fighting. That really makes this image. The action of the Hipo and the turbulence in the water leaves not doubt what is happening. Even worse is what could be about to happen. Story told and that is what good photography is all about. I don't see anything that has to be changed. A couple things that the guys talked about, the bird and the left side of the animal both could be worked on but not necessary. Ditching the sky in the original image was a good move for sure. Wonderful image and I'll be full of memories. |

This is one of those images that make we want to be there. I think your post processing works well and the cropping seems about perfect. Love the beautiful rich colors. I was wondering if you could have got a wee bit lower into the valley. Your perspective is great but we always wonder. It's like what is around the next bend in the road. I always want to check it out. I was wondering what the scene would look like from the river bottom. Really good work Todd. I could see this hanging in a high end western lodge somewhere. |

All I can say is WOW Michael What a wonderful image. The lens may have not been the one you would have prefered but I think it may have worked in your favor this time. We all know what lies behind the head of the mama bear and see that a lot but very seldom get that close up detail of the animal. I am impressed with you work in post.Nothing is over processed and the colors look great. Maybe a couple of snowflakes could have been located a little more strategically but you can't control that. |
