Well flipping does not always work and depends on the image for sure. I always look just to make sure. It's kind of like checking all the angles of a scene just to make sure there is not a better one than the first one. You are correct about the eyeball rolling left to right, that's just the natural way we look at things. Anyway I think it's a great image and one to be proud of for sure.

Hey Mark I am back from the Caribbean vacation and want to make a few comments on your image. I will mimic Larry, I am green with envy for I have never came close to finding a pool with the whirling water. Wonderful image. If I could I would be going back there all the time trying different shots of this scene. According to some of my friends I tend to edit my photos a little on the dark side and my answer is and I think yours is always a little light for my taste. If you like it, it is perfect. I like it. I may have opened up the shadows just a bit and maybe lighten the waterfalls a little bit. All minor stuff. I love the image. Good work |

Richard MathenyThanks Todd for you nice comments on the image.I was shooting in a steady rain all morning and add in some wind and it was just a little changeling. I did try some shots at longer exposures but was not very successful. I'm sure it was the effect of the inclement weather and certainly not the lack of talent of the photographer. In retrospect I like the faster shutter speed just as well. I feel it added some realism to the image. Posted: 11/17/2019 10:45:04 |

Thanks Larry for the insightful comments. I am not a big fan overall of Topaz either but I find some things that I could do in LR are a bit easier with Topaz. As I mentioned to Todd I did try some shots at a slower shutter speed but with the wind and steady rain I just could not make it work to my liking. I am blaming it on the weather anyway. Thanks for noticing the foreground. I am a big fan a nice froground in a image when it does not detract from the image and actually adds to it. It will be on My wall and hopefully maybe someone else's Wall. I did enter this image into a couple if monthly contest last week and won a First place at one of the clubs and and Honorable Mention in the other. I think the judge in the other club was biased, haha. |

Thanks Madhusudhan for the nice comments. The leaves are indeed softer and that of course was on purpose. I softened them to help with the effect I was trying to achieve.Of course with the constant rain and wind they were not the sharpest pencil in the image anyway. Yes indeed they were sweet memories for sure. |

I know that feeling. When I was younger I took a lot of , shall we say adventures, that I would not dare to a my ripe old age. I like to think that that reasoning is a result of being older and wiser.

Hey I am back from the sunny Caribbean and wanted to finish my comment about your beautiful image. I have read everyone comments and understand them. I too like Panoramas. Having said that I like that you gave me a place to be in the image. A nice sand bar to stand on. That makes me a participant of the scene and not just a bystander. I always like a non intrusive foreground in landscape images. I really like this image so I took the liberty to change a few things. The first thing of course is obvious. I flipped the image 180 degrees, I then cropped the sky as Larry did from the top. I used the brush tool in LR to darkin the shadows on the mountain and then using the HSL orange slider -28 changed the luminance of the brown/orange mountains to add a little color and also the Blue slider a +43 to brighten the water just a bit. I also used the clarity tool to soften the water some. You image is wonderful and totally acceptable as is. These are some of the things that I may have done. |

Another good one. I like the log because it is part of the story on any stream bed that I have ever visited. There is always some evidence of nature being the driving force of the scene and I like that. Your filters have done their job in bringing the stream bed into the photo instead of just a flat or mirror finish on the surface. If it would have been possible I may have moved to the right just a bit for the shot. May not have worked but I would liked to have seen a little different angle to the waterfalls. Overall a great image again. |

You sure have captured the stormy weather. I think the wind blown tree on the right really adds to the effect. Great image for a black an white offering. You could have placed the tree on the rule of thirds line but I do not have a problem with where it is at. The subject of you image is the storm and the sight line goes from left to right into the photo, so the tree is a great stopping point for the viewer. Without tree there would your eye would continue off the page.Really nice image.

I like you composition Todd. You place the flower perfectly in the image. The bokeh is very nice as well. If I would have done anything I would have possibly removed the leave in the foreground before I took the shot to make the bloom standout a bit more. Great image.

I always like the images of a wood and water and you have done a nice job. I do like the boulders framing the stream leading you to the lighter part of the image. I really like that you have put the large boulders in the foreground. A nice touch and gives the viewer a real perspective of the scene. |
