So I have got rid of the pink and most everything else as well. I do agree with all distractions being unacceptable. I completely changed the crop. |

Wow Larry. Just so I'm not confused, "which is easily accomplished". A good image of a bird flying with nest building material in it beak would stand a chance of making the first cut? |

I did think about making up some kind of story but folks that know me know that I am old ,slow, and sometime tend to embellish the facts about the size of some of my fish I have caught. Thanks Michael, sometimes the normal stuff makes a good photo. |

Your welcome Wayne. I think that some images lend themselves to a Black and White format. Not all of course but I most always check with one click of a button in LR or PS just to see. I always create a virtual copy first. If I like the change then edit further, if not just go back. |

Can you say Pink. Wow that color really jumps off the screen, wonderful. I did notice that one of them does not have the pink bill and only slightly pink legs. I assume that this bird may be a juvenile bird. Nice that you captured them all lined up like that. Good DOF on the birds as well.

All I can say Larry in dedication x dedication. That's a long time to spend for one image. I like Todd have never considered a moobow before, heck I have never even heard of it. Moonglow maybe. I think I would go for it if there was there at the correct time but standing on the cliff for 8 hours seems brutal for and old man with a bad back. I do use the cropping overlays some in lightroom. My problem is forgetting to use them so thanks for remind me that they are there.

Like the image Wayne. I can see myself standing on that road trying to capture that shot. The cloud cover is really nice and adds a whole other dimension to the scene that you would otherwise not get with a blank/bland sky.Just to share a thought. I was thinking that this image would be a great B&W picture and it would achieve that ominous mood you looking for. So I took the liberty to convert it to a B&W image, hope you don't mind. I done some adjustments wiht the contrast, levels and curves in PS. |

Wonderful image Todd. I have never seen a wolf in the wild but it is on my bucket list. The look on an animal's face is intriguing to me. They will stare into your eyes as if trying to communicate something to you or even understand your thoughts. I attended a meeting last night and the speaker was presenting a program on his winter visit to Yellowstone and he showed several images of the captured Wolves and Bears. Could have even been the same wolf. Thanks For posting this guy.

Great image Michael of this Snowy Egret. Two things I really like about the image. the first is that the image was captured in the spring with the breeding plumage and color starting to show up. That adds so much excitement to the image. That the other thing I like about the image is the action. I causes the viewer to stop and spend some time looking at he photograph. I do agree with Lary and Todd about the dasteradley limb that got in the way but I am for leaving it in there. I personally think that if it is not hiding some important aspect of the image like the face or bill, leave it. It's part of the environment of where the bird lives and does not distract me to much. Those lens spots on the right side that's another story. You may be able to get away with one o two but not as many as you have. Easy fix as Larry said. |

Thanks Larry for the helpful comments. One of my teaching suggestions or pet peeves when photographing Birds is to try to photograph the bird when it is actually doing something or something special is happening with the bird. This little guy wasn't doing much but that fluttering of the feathers gave it some action even though it was otherwise setting motionless. You are absolutely correct about the bright red/pink flower.I should have toned that down. I see your point about moving the bird a little to the right, I will have to watch that closer. I just did not want it in the center of the image. |
