Thanks Wayne. Sometimes this hobby can be a challenge. I agree with trying to have everything ready and the camera preset as Larry recommended and I do that as much as I can. Dark woods was the reason for the high ISO. The problem that I always run into in the woods is the filtered light coming through the canopy of trees can mess up the best laid plans. I don't remember why my aperture was a F13, it usually is much more open than that. Thanks for the comments.

Beautiful Bird Cheryl. We have plenty of them here in SC. They have to be in good light to bring out all those colors. I like the head turn towards the camera. Nice to have it jump up on that tree stub or post and pose for you. With a little work on the background would make the bird jump out of the image a little more. Great shot Cheryl. |

Love the image. This is the iconic bird image. Wonderful soft background with a perfectly placed subject for really nice composition. Very sharp detail in the bird. I commend you on the hand holding with that lens. I use that same lens and it is heavy. Good work.

Beautiful image larry. Like taking images of waterfalls but I do my best to photograph ones the do not require 4 mile hikes up-hill. I like the detail in the water. I do like that you included some of the stream below the waterfalls. great image as usual.

Wonderful image Wayne. I am late getting in on the action this month so have had time to read all the post. I agree wiht everyone about the blown out areas. I too noticed the changes that Larry made to correct those areas and it sure did work. I am struck at how much it changed the mood of the image. It went from a warm sunny late afternoon image to a very dramatic image. As we say, it's all about the light. I don't think there is anything I could add to the post processing. I do have one suggestion, it's one that I try to remember to do especially when shooting landscapes is to look at the histogram and check for any over exposed areas. A good histogram that has nothing up against the right side will solve a lot of problems in post processing. |

Love to see images of Bears. This is a great family image and I too like the way mom has her head turned just a bit as if checking on her cubs.Good detail on mom and her immediate surroundings. A greater dof might have got the cub a little sharper and that would have been nice. Any time you have to take photos from an unstable platform like a moving boat is a challenge. I think you done well. Moving subjects, moving boat and hand held, not bad in my book. I have never found a tri-pod very helpful in a moving boat anyway. |

Thanks Cheryl. Spyders can be a little scary but still make great subjects. I did have on a long lens but would not have been worried about this guy as they are not poisonous nor aggressive. They will bit though if you mess with them. How large? I am going to say about the size of a silver dollar.

Thanks Michael for your comments. You are correct about the cropped image. I must have grabbed the wrong image from the files. |

I will have to agree with the others, the colors are what attracts me to the image. I am not very good at Micro, and usually I am frustrated with my efforts at it. Therefore knowing my ability at this artform I don't feel qualified to make meaningful comments about improving you image. Your effort looks good to me. The DOF is very narrow which adds to the intersitist of the photo. |
