Wayne this is a dream trip for this East Coast Guy. Had a trip planned this past year but a death in the family of my traveling partner canceled for this year. I can see the struggle you had with all the smoke but considering the circumstances. I think you done a great job on this image. Maybe a little strong on the colors but that' and easy fix. I have seen those images from some of our pro's that I would have considered unacceptable, this is not unacceptable, good job. |

Max really nice. I am always amazed at you guys that can do this close up work. I keep trying but have never been very successful. I am also a fan of photos that use the negative space to enhance the subject of the photo. You have done a really good job. Looking forward more.

Thanks Madhusushan. Thanks for your comments, I did make some of the changes folks suggested. I too liked the bokeh but understand the concern about the distractions so made those changes as well. |

Thanks Michael. I did take some of the suggestions to heart and reprocessed the image. Much better for my purposes. The ISO is what it is of course. Couldn't change that but was able to clean up some more noise. Again thanks for the comments. I posted the new image on Larry' comment.

Thanks Max. The thing I like about birds is that there is always one around to satisfy my need to have a camera in my hand. My wife calls it a sickness, I call it a passion. |

Larry I am finley home and get to answering these comments. Taking the Master Naturalist Program was one of the first thing I done after my retirement. I have been an outdoor person all my life but never lived in southern states like SC.so wanted to have some knowage of what goes on here in the southern woods and fields. The bean bag never leaves my car. You never know when a need will popup. When shooting birds I always set the ISO to 1250 at the start. I find that shutter speed is the most important adjustment when shooting fast moving subjects, hence the high ISO. On my Nikon D500 there is a single button on the top right of the camera for ISO adjustments. I do not have to go to the menu. Push the button and adjust with the back control wheel as needed. I do use the brush tool in LR for sharpening and clarity most times on the subject of the image. Did crop some and should have cropped more. |

Hello Michael. I am a newbie to PSA and of course to this group. Love wildlife shooting and am always looking for the little guys to shoot. I don't do a very good job of it but I try. I think your choice to shoot with the backlight was the correct thing to do. You gave the frog some depth and contrast rather than blending into the background. That little bit of blur on the leg does not bother me much. May be a problem in some competitions but to me it's part of his environment. The crop is OK with me. The frog has plenty of room in front of him. If I were going to get a little picky, I would have flipped the image to have the frog facing to the left. That's a very small thing but we read left to right on a print page and do the same with pictures. Good work. |

I like the image Larry. Florida is one of my favorite places to shoot. I make several trips there every year, just not down to the Everglades yet. I like the secrets hidden in the calm waters that can be found there. You are correct that is can be a hard find. I may have cropped this a little different but that is my personal thing and would not be far from what you have done. In an image like this I think the environment is part of the story. I think the Sunset is the main subject of the photo but without the surrounding environment It's just another sunset. I like the Glassy surface of the water and the colours work well.Good Job. |
