Shirley,
I think the Dark Night filter you used in Topaz has really brought out the image. I particularly like what it has done to the water. I thought it seemd to be sloping to the right a little but when I checked it doesn't so must be an optical illusion (or my eyes!!). Lovely image and well processed. |

Bob, I think you have done well to catch the image in the first place as they are going fast!! I think what you have done works quite well and helps get rid of the distracting BG. I had a different approach to Fred though!!
I used the healing tool and removed the post at top of second jockeys head. Also the tail and back legs of the second horsehad had bits of the orginal BG still showing. I used the clone tool in some parts and then a "hair" brush to make his tail look better. I am nowhere an expert and like you am learning all the time. I did try initially to clone the white building out but it didn't happen as not much to work with. |

When I first glanced at the image I hadn't really appreciated what you had done to it!!! Then reading your description and looking closer I could see the great work you had done!! The fact that the changes were not immediately obvious shows how natural the changes are. I particularly like the two "crossed" pins in the centre. The reflections and shadows have been well done.
The only picky change I would make is to drop the saturation a little? |

What an unusual shaped building!! I like the fact that you have chosen to show it in mono as it really helps bring out the structure and all the detail. The trees in the foreground help give a sense of scale. It is lovely and sharp all the way through.
I do find that the dark shadow on the right is a bit distracting as is the top of a lamp post on the left side which perhaps could be cloned out? |

Working with layers may be your weak point but in this case you have done really well!!
I have used the Fur and Feather filter myself this month (see Group 81) and I really like the result it gives.
All the colours and background work well together. Well done. |

Richard,
A great shot and I like that you have flipped the image as it does look better. Lovely sharp shot of the three youngsters. The one on the right seems well fed up and is resting on his "knees" rather than standing up. Hopefully the parents arrived and fed them.

A great still life well done. I like the background you have given it as it does relate to the main subjects and adds to the image.
I feel that I would have liked to have seen a bit more of the scissors that are poking out at the back of the reel as at the moment I find what you can see a bit distracting?

Bev,
Many thanks for your kind comments. I use layers a lot but what I am not too sure about is getting them from PS back into LR with all the layers intact? |

A lovely image of what looks to be a very interesting place to visit.
Really like the shadows in the water and I think that might be you in the middle!! Very interesting perspective of the bridge which works well.
I wonder if it might have been better to move to the left a bit more and get equal amount of the bridge either side? I tried cropping the right side up to the edge of the wooden building and felt it made a more balanced image.
Well done, |

Thanks, Cheryl your comments are very welcome. I will try and tone down the base as the more I look at it the more I can see what you and Randall are saying and agree!!. |

Many thanks for the nice comments. I do see what you mean about the bright spot and will rectify and perhaps tone down the base a little. |

We have Jays in the UK but they are very different looking.
Lovely sharp shot of this colourful bird. The composition is great and I like the angle of the branch he is perching on. The background bokeh is lovely and adds to the image.
I think I would have darkened the perch right to the right edge as the last bit is still light and catches the eye. Otherwise a great shot, well done. |

Not an easy subject and a real shame you couldn't have got nearer. The flower and Dragonfly are nice and sharp. Not too sure what else you could have done with the cropping. The background is very distracting unfortunately and, to me, spoils the image. Looking closely it would be very difficult to do anything about the dark leaf as the creatures wing is in the same place.
I have had a go at cloning out the large dark area top right which helps a little, I think (not overly well done I admit!!) See what you think? |

I have quite a large number of these flowers in my garden and they do produce lot of foliage so I understand the problem you had in trying to make the flower and bee stand out.
The flower and bee are lovely and sharp and the colours very natural. I like the coloured border.
I do find the amount of leaves a bit overpowering and spoiling the image. I tried a square crop with the flower on the lower left third and felt it looked a lot better, try it?
Well done.
