Thank you Marti and Madhusudhan for your comments. I have attached a re-edited image with you suggestions. I do take 90% of my insect macros hand held, opportunistic events without tripod or monopod. This shot was actually above eye level with a high fence in the background. Thank you for your comments. |

Richard, this image rekindles my interest in searching for more bird subjects. I too am amazed at the sharpness at that ISO. I use a Pool Noodle for window shots, If you do get a dense one. |

Michael, I really like this image and the way your description puts me there. I have read the comments and really do not have anything to add. I would highly recommend Photoshop, it can be a monster but that is what I use the most for my image processing. I am sure getting a lot of ideas from the comments on all the images in the group. I should go to other groups and visit too. |

Thank you Wayne.
Larry, Thank you. I shot it at F13 to get as much detail as I could, I should have also tried to get a shot from the back so I could recover the wing details. I did not make any efforts directed at the wings specifically. I will make that something I try to improve the image. I did not try to clown out the top of the image, I should have done better boarder patrol here. I guess at the time I thought that some of the stick was there and did not consider this, I will. The F13 setting is the setting on the camera but the lens itself is no longer a f2.8 end to end due to the tube I attached, I will see if I can find a table for the conversion of apature when the tube is attached. I just usually go outside and take a test shot in the light in the area and adjust so I may use the lowest ISO setting with the highest shutter speed I can get with the hand held, also the flash will not recycle fast enough to use the high rate of multiple shutters. I am very happy with your observations they can only improve my image...that's why I am here. |
