Thanks, Bev. We leave tomorrow for a cruise on the Allure. . I hope I get another shot like this, too. It takes hundreds and hundreds of images... too soon for another cruise for us.

Thanks, Ray - Update on my image. I have made changes after consultation with Cindy, who was a great help. I will be entering it soon. Will let you all know what happens. On the surface, it still looks the same to me, but it is much cleaner. I changed the background that had imperfections by selecting the skaters and putting them on a pure black background. I had thought of that, but saw problems with trying to select the skaters with the filter on it. So, after I thought about it more, I went back to my original, did the selection there, and then re-applied the filter.

I have already withdrawn the image from the competition until I can work on it some more. I listened to what Cindy said, and I will take your comments into consideration, too. I like the image too much to let it go into competition in an imperfect state.
I will tell you that the image is not as clear and sharp as I would want it to be, and it has some noise, so I used a filter. It would now have to go into a creative category as filters are not allowed in color.
I really LOVE the image, and will work on it to perfect it. Thanks for your critiques, Don and Cindy. |

Cindy, I love it, as usual. The only comment I would make is I think it is a bit too centered. I would take a tad off the left The texture is all wonderful as are the colors. Do you think there should have been a third berry lying around? I cannot believe I am actually finding something I think might make your image a bit stronger. It is beautiful.

Nice crop, though I think I like the original as it shows more of the environment. The background is good and not distracting, so I would keep more of if. I wonder if the head could have been a bit sharper, but... I like it.
It is a quite pleasant image. |

Two things jump out at me. First, why are we looking at his backside? I know you intentionally (I think) centered the statue, but images generally are more interesting if that is not the case. I will say that all is in focus, and your sky is interesting. Contrast looks good. |

It was nice of your friend to send you this beautiful Gladiola plant. Here are my suggestions. You should remove the gold on the bottom. Either crop higher or clone it out. Also, I would remove the dead leaf on the right hand side. It takes away from the beauty of the flower as does the flower on the left. I would also remove the little black thingie hanging down. These are all distraction which take away from the beauty of the flower.
Last, while the background is really good, the flower itself could be a bit sharper.
I would also find a way not to center the flower.
All that being said, a great beginning! Keep trying! You will get there! |

I like it! You captured the whites in the feather well, and the bird looks great, including that green eye. I especially love the background and the fact that the fellow has plenty of room to fly into.
If I was a judge, you would get the highest score... and perhaps even "Image of the Month."
