Hanoch, In a local discussion about the image which I originally showed with two black socks increasing the contrast between the socks and shirt, the viewers said they wanted more detail in the socks. So, I brought up some shadow detail for this version.
I may take out the sock piece on the right.
This may be one of those love-or-hate images that I just keep at home. Karl |

As can be seen by the edges of the socks, they were sown to be flat. While the original is color, I took it to black & white and then toned it warmer. It fits the monochrome definition as you see it. When I drive through Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, (aka Amish country) there are many farmhouses with laundry drying outside. You do begin to wonder about the lives of the people who wear the clothes. Karl |

Hi Lauren, Hummingbirds can be a challenge. The hign ISO and shutter speed make this nice image possible. Showing the environment helps us understand the bird and its habitat, a point overlooked by many nature photographers with huge lenses. You succeeded in this challenging situation. Karl |

Hi Chris, Often simple images require the most effort. The luminous quality of the image creates an otherworldly effect. Indeed, it is another world to us landlubbers. The green areas are OK when counterpointed by the red/magenta background. Very well done. Karl |

Hi Peter, From an art standpoint I like your rendering because there is so much to consider including the meaning of the sharp, striped section at lower center. Another view might be to make that area black like the section adjacent to the right which results in a black silhouette figure. And make a stick more subtle. It's great fun to play with another photographer's image! Karl |

Hi Judith, Great job extracting this small scene from the big picture and bringing out shadow detail. The masking process nicely simplified the image to the point where a pumpkin is not recognizable. That brings our attention exclusively to the bee and its reflection. The wings show good detail. The very warm color balance makes it a golden moment. As an alternative, I cropped the top and made the color balance more neutral in Adobe Camera RAW. Karl |
