You can see more of Group 79's previous images by clicking 'Group 79 Home' at the top and then 'Select Another Round' on the right side. This group does some interesting interpretations with in-camera work like my entry this month and with post processing. Judith expects us to tell all about our images so it is a good place to learn. |

Hi Heather, Thank you for visiting our group. In my 60+ years of photographing I have seen many good photographers burn out because they were successful in one aspect of photography and kept doing the same or similar subjects and techniques year after year. I am always looking to try subjects and techniques that I haven't done before. That keeps me always interested and engaged. Karl |

Hi Peter, With the capture device, cropping, and processing, there is a noticeable sharpnees artifacting. Given all that, I think the pistils are fine. Karl |

Hi Lauren, There is definitely an eye here. I am thinking more of a crocodile, but a bird works also. I think an IR image would be very flat in contrast. I wanted to see it in b&w so I converted it using a landscape tonality starting point in Photoshop Elements and added contrast. Then I did local dodging and burning to highlight the figure that I saw here. In color or monochrome, the texture is the medium and the shapes rattle in our minds to be whatever we like. Nicely done. Hi Freddie, This is a nicely detailed abstract with a feeling of shimmering motion. Nice job of working up the shadows. I might also punch up the magenta, but the color is already a great attribute of the image. I can see why this water reflection image with saturated color would make a great dye-sublimation print on aluminum. When you sell more than one, it's time to raise the price. You have great vision for artistic images. Karl |

Hi Peter, The image has lovely color and your cropping creates a nice composition featuring leading lines. I tend towards images reading left to right. In this case we are led to the golden heart of the flower. By flipping the image horizontally, we are led to the pistils standing tall. Karl |

Hi Judith, Before I read the description, I thought the orange color was a reflection. Even so, I didn't get a clear idea of a goldfish. Sidebar: there are more and better showy carp in Winterthur's ponds. I like your composition but might take 20% off the top. As an abstract fine art image it works well because of the color contrast, texture, and composition. Karl |
