79 Jul 24 Comment Hi Lauren, Great expressive street photo. The vignetting helps frame the singer. The hat? We can only guess. Does it mean she has a male cohort or protector? Is her cohort out picking pockets in the audience? Is this a person in drag? I love your photo. At the Olympics in Barcelona in 1992, however, was the only time I've had cameras stolen. Karl Jul 6th
79 Jul 24 Comment Hi Freddie, While this is an abstract taken from nature, it has become a pure abstract because of the ICM, saturation, and browning/darkening of the edges. The edge treatment keeps the viewer involved IN the image, not straying out. It is a nice abstract with various areas of texture and color in an interesting composition leading by asymmetry to the hot pink. Maybe this is MOMA month in Group 79. Karl Jul 6th
79 Jul 24 Comment Hi Mariann, The addition of color in the sky is a great idea. It makes us feel that we are there at twilight. To get rid of the dull light, I brightened the marble architecture in a masked levels layer. In another levels layer, I darkened the background by decreasing midtones to 50% and the output highlights to 180 on the histogram. That makes the white marble 'pop' better. Other small changes were a crop ant bottom and right side and cloning out of distracting background highlights. I think the result helps your desired interpretation of an important monument at a nice time of day. Karl Jul 6th
79 Jul 24 Comment Hi Peter, This image is very creative. It could be a piece in MOMA. While the GF piece may not fly in PSA, there are other legitimate things to photograph for the color art like wrapping paper, oil paints swirled on water, food coloring swirled in milk, or your own art creation. The small details in the final image keep a viewer's interest. Karl Jul 6th
79 Jul 24 Comment Hi Judith, Amazing quality in your micro world. I see a skinny raptor at right, an alpine goat above it, and maybe an octopus at left. The image's lighting reminds me of underwater photography. Nice colors. It's on the borderline of showing sharpening artifacts. Karl Jul 6th
79 Jul 24 Comment Hi Lauren, The wine wasn't that great which was part of the reason I spent time getting something out of the experience: the images. The song did come to mind. Karl Jul 6th
