Hi Peter, Northern Vermont is full of 'unusual' places. Last week we visited the Dog Chapel on Dog Mountain just outside St. Johnsbury. In addition to the huge barn Bread and Puppet Museum in the tiny town of Glover Just off I-91 there is also the smaller barn Museum of Everyday Things which is full of fascinating old stuff, usually with some explanation. Stick to St. Johnsbury for hotels. Beyond there, beds are rarer. Karl |

Hi Lauren, This is not an easy image to capture. You and the Olympus did a truly excellent job. The limited depth of field at 1600 mm nicely isolates the owl in the scene. THe autofocus and image stabilization worked perfectly as you tracked the owl. There might be slightly more 'feeling' of movement if the image were flipped horizontally. Karl |

Hi Freddie, I agree that less desaturation would be a benefit. In this abstract, the eye wanders around searching for a contrast point or interest point. The yellow area at right attracts the eye but offers no interest. Cropping it out would produce a scene of dreamy calmness. Karl |

Hi Gerard, The color choices are brilliant along with the papyrus texture. This is definitely an image to print on Moab's Moenkopi Unryu paper and have on hang on the wall. The paper's fibers would dimensionally add to the beautifully textured background. Don't change the image. The color, composition, and textures are eloquent. Karl |

Hi Judith, Pareidolia is alive in our minds. The volume of interpretations is impressive. My primary one is like Mariann's. I see the Firebird dancing out as a new form of life. Great subject matter! Karl |

Hi Peter, I like the idea of the colorful balloon in a monochromatic world that is full and very busy (many birds). I might include the gondola to make a human statement and flip the image horizontally. Then man in his colorful balloon will be moving through the grayness of normality or even pushing it away and ridding us of Hitchcock's Birds.
SOAPBOX: I see this as an exercise in boring gray that fills fashion today. Cars are dull gray, clothes are gray, new kitchens are black & white and gray, etc.. Have we lost the color receptors in our eyes? Karl |

Bread & Puppet is a co-op sort of place in the style of the late 1960's. They don't recognize individual artists. You can get high on the smoke in the breeze.
Each summer they make more 'puppets' for various protest themes. I chose this image because it was shot with a circular fisheye. A rectilinear image would not have the same feeling. |

I made the circular portion more monochromatic to set it apart from the model. I may play with it a bit more to add more mood as you suggest. Karl |
