I had to search a bit for the ice image among hundreds. Here are the two starting images before the warping, layering and partial masking to allow fire image parts to show through the ice. Karl |

Hi Lauren, Great interpretation! At first I thought it was a fall picture in realistic color. Even though I'm very familiar with IR, I was initially fooled because I wasn't expecting IR! The color contrast between the trees and rock/sky makes the picture. The lighting is very good and IR helps define the rock texture as you noted. It's a beautiful image.
I purchased the Super Color and Super Blue filters from LifePixel and am also experimenting with color added IR as well as pure monochrome IR. More to come. Karl |

Hi Freddie, Welcome to Group 79. The reflections are wonderful. You did a good job extracting detail and color. I agree with Peter's comments. My primary concern was the lack of blacks. In a situation like this I use Levels or Curves (not available in Photoshop Elements, my primary post processing software) to be sure there is a tonality spread from black to white on the histogram as appropriate for the particular image. This image as presented seems to lack good blacks which would improve contrast and give the image more punch. Karl |

Hi Peter, A nice painterly interpretation. In the nit picking department, I suggest two possibilities. (1) Leave all of the flowers at the same luminosity, or (2) If we wish to have the center flower prominent with better lighting, be sure to keep the stems of the side flowers reduced in tone along with the side flowers themselves. Nice flow to the composition. Karl |

Hi Judith, I only wish for more snow in our area. The ironwork became an abstract when the snow texture was removed. I found myself wandering around the dynamic diagonals looking for a feature that I could center on. So i took parts from the upper right and rearranged them. Now you might think a face has appeared on a pole above the floating grill. Karl |

Peter, I like the grilled cheese on well done toast analogy. I keep looking for faces in images and miss the food! Karl |
