79 Nov 20 Reply I wish I had a nice Polynesian girl in my basement as a model! I haven't done any model work in a year. The pony tail head in the image is just me.
Actually I'm not a good enough artist to create images that duplicate reality. Instead I live in the realm of abstracts with a strong dose of pareidolia. In other words, I like to make images that can bring out thoughts or images in the viewer's mind based on their knowledge and experience. What the viewer thinks they see is probably not there in entirety, just a clue or 'suggestion'. Karl

79 Nov 20 Comment Hi Lauren, This is a great composition of a nice scene. Your post processing for color is well done, effective yet subtle. Excellent job.
You don't always need an ND filter. Choosing the minimal native ISO, a polarizer which helps the colors too, and stopping down can often provide exposures long enough for velvet water. At 20mm a variable ND filter will cause strange effects that are usually undesirable. Use single value ND filters instead. Karl

79 Nov 20 Comment Hi Marie, A beautiful contemporary story of a tradition that works well as a three part 'story'. The person, the setting, every item in the image contributes to the story detail. It's technically well done in a straight forward manner. Modern composition ideas might crop part of the wall at the top of the image. Having the woman's head in the center is more simplistic and old fashioned which helps the concept of age old tradition. Well conceived and executed. Karl Nov 14th
79 Nov 20 Comment Hi Sandra, Zooming always puts the convergence point at the center unless the camera itself is also moved during exposure. Asymmetric compositions are usually more interesting so I agree with Peter's suggestion. The soft colors and vignetting give a beautiful feeling. Very calming emotion. Karl Nov 14th
79 Nov 20 Comment Hi Peter, Welcome! The decision to not preserve original proportions helps take an image out of the ordinary. I like the image as a panorama. The shaded mat is complimentary and difficult to achieve in a mat board. I'm not sure about the elongated frame proportion. The color symphony is pleasing and the texture work looks like a shot through shower stall textured glass. For this image, a triptych might be gimmicky. The image will be great on the wall as is. 79 Nov 20 Comment Hi Valerie, Camera and zooming movement images can create beautiful impressions of scenes. This scene without the figure has beautiful, soft color tones. The figure is ambiguous and definitely the subject in a beautiful landscape. I like the interesting balance caused by the top ling going right to left and the figure seeming to go left to right, a vague yin-yang. These ambiguous images don't excite, they soothe. Looks like you are having lots of fun. Karl Nov 8th
79 Nov 20 Comment Hi Judith, This is really old, back to the days of early electricity. The warm color tone emphasizes the age along with the torn fabric. Everything contributes to the feeling and theme. Well composed with balance! Karl Nov 8th
